Cybercrime: EFCC recovers vehicles, phones, fetish items from 40 suspects

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission from its Kaduna Zonal Directorate arrested 40 suspected internet fraudsters in Niger State.

The arrest was disclosed in a post shared via its official handle on X, on Wednesday.

Recovered items recovered from the suspects include 60 Android phones, three vehicles, 10 motorcycles, eight laptop computers, four Bluetooth speakers, eight power generating sets, one Hisense air conditioner, and two power stabilisers.

“The operation was based on credible intelligence linking the suspects to a syndicate engaged in cybercrime activities.”

According to the commission, the suspects were apprehended in separate raids across Bida and Minna Local Government Areas of the state.

It was gathered that several fetish items allegedly used for spiritual fortification, were also recovered from the suspects.

In statement, it was said that: “Among the items recovered were three calabashes adorned with feathers, traditionally made soap and sponge, a bottle of alcoholic drink, 20 cowries, a waist bead, and four ladies’ underwear,” the statement said.
 
However, the anti-graft agency revealed that the suspects will be arraigned in court as soon as investigations are concluded.”
